The 14th National University Metallurgical Dean and High-Level Forum of Metallurgical Disciplines was held in Zhenjiang from October 24-27, 2019. The forum was organized by Department of Materials Engineering of National Natural Science Foundation of China jointly hosted by Jiangsu university and Jiangsu University of Science and Technology. Professor Ge Shilun , Director of Department of Materials Engineering of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Professor Ge Qilu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Professor Zhang Ting'an, Vice President of General Institute of Iron and Steel Research, Professor Zhang Lifeng, Vice President of Yanshan University, Professor Song Kexing, Vice-Chancellor of Jiangsu University, Vice President of Henan University of Science and Technology, and Mr. Zhou Bin, Vice Mayor of Xinghua City, Jiangsu Province, also attended the forum, as well as more than 180 directors and representatives of scientific research institutions from more than 40 metallurgical universities.

               

The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Professor Xu Junhua, Deputy Secretary of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Professor Ge Shilun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, and Professor Fully-in-force, Vice-Chancellor of Jiangsu University, respectively, delivered speeches on behalf of the organizers and extended warm welcome to the delegates. The head of the Fund Committee and the head of the General Institute of Steel Research spoke separately. The opening ceremony also held the 7th "National University Metallurgical Dean Award" and "National University Metallurgical Dean Nomination Award" award ceremony.

Professor Zhang Jianliang, Party Secretary of the School of Metallurgy of Beijing University of Science and Technology, Professor Zhu Miaoyong, Dean of the School of Metallurgy of Northeastern University, and Professor Lai Yanqing, Vice Dean of the Metallurgical College of Zhongnan University, made wonderful speeches on stimulating innovative vitality mechanisms, personnel training in metallurgical engineering, and research on materials metallurgy. Forum sponsor Professor Xu Yusong of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology and Professor Liu Yunjian of the School of Materials made a special report on the development of metallurgical disciplines in their respective schools.

This forum through the unit recommendation, secret ballot, selected Jiangsu University of Science and Technology Peng Hongbing and other 6 people won the 8th "National University Metallurgical Dean Award", Jiangsu University Su Mingru and other 5 people won the 8th "National University Metallurgical Dean Nomination Award." At the same time, it was announced that the 16th National University Metallurgical Dean and Metallurgical High-level Forum will be hosted by Yanshan University. It is reported that the 15th Forum will be held in 2020 in Zhejiang University of Technology, China.
